After being out of cycling for about 6 years I have dusted off my bikes and gear and started riding again. My cycle computer needed a new battery of course (cateye micro) and with it installed the display is locked up and nothing will bring it out of this state. Any one have this problem before and will I just have to buy a new one along with all the other new items I have been buying lately, the LBS is starting to like me.

A lot of computers have a rest button underneath which can be pushed with a small object like a pin or paperclip. This resets everything to factory settings. If this works you will probably need to find your instructions as the wheel size will probably need to be reprogrammed.

I guess I should have stated in my first post that the reset button has no effect on it, hoping there was something I missed.

Did you try removing the battery and then reinstalling it to see what happens?

Yep- to no avail.Once my Cateye had a similar symptom. The mode change button was stuck down. What looks like the button is really a rubber cover over the real button and the real button was stuck down. It would not pop back up no matter how I pushed it with my finger. I got the back of a ball point pen and pushed down on the button cover then wiggled it around and the real button came loose. I have not had a problem since.

Well I finally got it, after trying some of the things from the board (thanks!) with no sucess I just held all three buttons in at the same time (reset-mode-start&stop) and it came out of it.

Glad it is working. One last thing to consider is that you will have to set your wheel size or you may get incorrect readings. You can probably Google and find instructions on how to do that.

That's odd. This usually only works if the buttons are labeled CTRL, ALT and DEL
