Hey everyone,

I am trying to choose a folder and was hoping I could get some feedback from current owners. I am 6'2" about 215lbs. I live in the Bay Area, I would be using it Mon-Fri to ride to BART from my house which is about 1.5 miles each way and then another mile in SF on flat surface. So max 5 miles a day. I am trying to stay under $300.

I have narrowed it down to a few; Citizen Tokyo, Knockoff Strida, or a Downtube are the three that seem to be the best fit.

Is there anyone that is my size that rides one of these? I am afraid the Strida would be uncomfortable.

Thanks everyone!

I think a Tokyo would be too small for you. If price is a major factor, try the Miami or Gotham. Citizen bikes are good values, so they make good introductions into the world of folders, but there are better bikes.

I know there are better bikes but I will probably never ride it except for my commute. The only con I have really heard about the Citizen is the weight.

Get yourself over to Wheel Girl in Berkeley or Warm Planet in SF and do some test riding if you haven't already. We are lucky to have lots of local shops with folding bikes around here, take advantage of it!

Speaking as a foldie rider of similar size and commute, you really want to get a quality bike that will fit you well and take the punishment you'll give it. $300 is going to be hard, but if you can wait and save a little more...

Hey Vic, PM me more info price etc

folderster- Thanks for the info, I will go check those places out, I can spend more than 300 I just dont want to. Im buying it to sell my car so I can try to get the rest of a down payment for a house. i would rather keep costs low. i dont need anything special just light, cheap, and gets me from Point A to B, especially since my whole ride is flat
