I realize this is more of a casual community ride than a serious commute, but anything that increases visibility/support for the Emerald Necklace and the San Gabriel and Rio Hondo paths gets my support.

Anyone here going?

There might be lots of kids there.

Actually, this would be a really good ride for someone who has been off the bike awhile...and they feed you lunch, you get a water bottle, maybe a tee shirt for your $5...

No kidding, that's $44 less than the L.A. River Ride!

I do think this will be a great opportunity for raising public awareness and stimulating civic attention even if it's not the most athletic event.

Also, I called the City yesterday, and they said they'd be registering new riders beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Are you going?

Did you do the CICLE Ride last year that was rather similar?

That was fun. Very well organized, too. Saw some old friends and made some new. Nice raffle, but I didn't win anything.

Almost ran over a 3 foot long garter snake on the path...

Tonight, CICLE party at One Colorado...

Glad you enjoyed it--I agree, it was very well organized. I did go, but I arrived quite late and I was pulling my 15-month-old daughter in a bike trailer behind me, so I went rather slow. By the time I finished the loop, they were packing up the tents and I missed all the giveaways. (At least there were still a few sandwiches and water bottles left.) I had a great time, and I was able to talk to the folks at Amigos de Los Rios, who are really promoting the Emerald Necklace and doing a lot with local parks.

I missed both CICLE events, alas--only heard about them after the fact.
