Mountain Biking - Will Pugsley replace a mountain bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I was getting geared up to buy a Karate Monkey, but this beast keeps catching my eye. I WANT IT! But, I don't know if I can use it here well. I hardly get snow, hardly any sand to speak of. The trails are rather groomed here. So is it a complete waste of time to get one now? Would it still be fun as hell flying down fire roads? Or just a heavy hard to push beast? Everyone that has one seems to think it's the sh*t, but I bet they have snow, sand, and another MTB in the garage.
So should I just go for it any way and have a blast?
Please, let's leave the opinions to those who have a Pug.
Thanks guys...

Pug owners that I've talked to have said the big fatty tires don't hook up the greatest on single track. But you can always run regular 29er wheels and tires.

I want a Pug as well, they look like a blast. But I own a Karate Monkey.

That's kinda what I was gonna say...except 26". Get a nice set of normal size wheels and tires for it. If you don't wanna push all that weight, put the little ones on. It would definitely be a smooth ride though.

i've heard of people running "normal" tires on the pug, i've heard 2.7 freeride/dh tires fit in the large marge rims pretty well
