Road Cycling - Opinion on Saddles for under $50.

I posted about the Cannondale 3.0 from 1989 that hasn't been ridden in 11 years as I've been into mountain biking because of where I lived (Connecticut isn't the best for Road bikes). I've replaced Tires, Tubes, brake cable, handlebar tape, adjusted rear derailler (first time I've learned to do it correctly thanks to parktool.com/repair_help ) and added a Cateye Enduro computer.

Tuesday (June 1st) I took it out for a spin. First time I've ridden over 50 miles in 11 years (from Falls church Va to Leesburg Va on the W&OD trail). Everything went great except the gel seat that was such a big deal 15 years ago and looked to be in excellent shape before I left stopped looking so good after about 40 miles when the cover started getting loose and the gel kinda bunched up in the middle and I was sitting on the outer parts of the seat. That was a long 12 miles!!!

Today I got a Serfas Dual Density Seat for $32 and before I use it I was curious of any opinions on this seat. I've saw where someone bought it for $100 in another post. Thanks

A saddle is a personal preference all the way. One you and 10 other people like you could find another 10 that hate it just as much as you like it. If it feels good after an hour or so and you like it you chosen wisely. It's kind of hard to price justify a saddle a cheap one that works for you is great and a cheap one the kills your arse isn't worth a nickle. Same for expensive ones. Bottom line (no pun intended) a comfortable saddle of any price is worth it, because an uncomfortable one can really ruin a ride(s).
