Southern California - SART Commuters Corona to/from Yorba Linda?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Any commuters or other cyclists who use the Santa Ana River Trail to travel between Corona and Yorba Linda? There is a proposal to do an extended closure of the trail between Gypsum Canyon and Green River to do some flood control work. As most of you know, the trail is the only cycling route through the area. The proposal has a temporary parking lot at Gypsum Canyon for the people who would normally drive to Green River and then ride to the beach, but that doesn't help commuters, touring cyclists, RAAM riders, etc. I'm going to talk with the county this week to get more information, but in the meantime I'd like to be able to line up some cyclists that are affected.

I don't live in the area anymore, but thanks for the heads-up. That would be a pretty unpleasant surprise if I looped through Carbon Canyon, Chino, and found the way back closed.
There is a dirt service road that runs parallel to the railroad tracks - you can find it on Google Maps. If they do close the path, that and the Coal Canyon-Green River stretch of the 91 freeway are your only options.

It's not until October, but I'll keep everyone posted.

Also, if anyone can think of any the various cross-country ride groups (such as RAAM, America by Bike) that use this section please let me know.
