Anyway, whilst watching my dads sleep at the Stroke Rehab Center today, I started thinking about how my father raised me. First off, I want you all to know that my father is a good man and continues to love me with all of his heart. He is the center of my life and is a wonderful priesthood man. He is my world and everything that I stand for. He's also very cool and I love him with all of my heart as well.

With that said, two years ago we were both sitting at a fire (no couches included) in deep conversation. It was a very touching moment folks. We talked about OSU football, the wonders of women and couches. It was an grand moment of thought and now that I'm thinking about it, truly wonderful. Oh and wouldn't you know it, I remember my Dads....turning his head, and saying, "Pimp'in Aint Easy Rick!" (Just so you know my name is Rick and I share the same name with my father).

Now, you may all think I'm trying to make a joke here. However, I'm not! I'm telling the truth, my father said that to me two years ago. If you knew my Dads, the joke would be funny on epic levels. My father was and still is, a proper man. To hear him say those words are unreal in simple terms, but funny if you witnessed them. Kind of crazy if you ask me.

And now to the point of Couch's story. Never accept the idea that your parents are going to be around forever. Embrace every moment you have with them. I don't care if you get along or not, make it happen. My father and I knocked heads throughout my life; however I miss him to the utmost intensity. If anything, I want to warn everyone here that still has a father, to make mends in their relationships. Believe me folks, you don't want to walk around and wonder what 'May Have Been'.

Pippin ain't easy,

Couch

I want to thank you for the warm words foosters. Just so you know, my dads is still hanging in there, however he is a bit different after his stroke. I ask that all of you pray for my family and my father as he is coming home next weekend for the first time since January 1st. It's going to be a tough job but I can't wait to sit next to a fire with him on Friday night.

Side note, mom asked me today about getting rid of a couch. My first thought was to set it on fire in the back. However, me thinks it may be too hard on dads in regards to the couch removal system I'll propose. Any Foo thoughts on how I can artistically get rid of the couch?

Thanks man. You Rock more than you know pgoat!

I'm going to start a thread next weekend in regards to dads coming home. I'll post pix, mostly of dad sitting on a couch or his Lazy-Boy. I can't freaking wait.

We've all been there, or will be someday.

Thank you for sharing, and for reminding us how precious family is.

My father passed away from cancer on May 19 last year. The first anniversary is Tuesday.

I am very glad us kids were able to take care of him at home during his last weeks. I agree completely, you need to cherish moments with your loved ones while you have them.

ChadRider, you and your family will be in my prayers tonight. I'm very truly sorry to hear about what has happened to your family. You will be in my thoughts.

Prayers for your family, Rick. It's truly a message that we should all heed, one that I didn't have the chance to do. Thank you for the reminder.

Rick:

Thank you for sharing that with us. I have recently learned to take nothing in this life for granted, for your world can change in an instant. What once seemed rock solid and unshakeable can be reduced to rubble in seconds.

I am glad that you and your father had that fire side chat and you have a memory to carry in your heart for the rest of your days.

I knew this thread HAD to have a regular Jsharr post to make up for a serious Jsharr post. It just wouldn't be Foo.
