Mountain Biking - Axle spacing question

Just signed up on the forums and new to building bikes and have a newbie question.
I am looking into purchasing a used wheelset for my SS MTB project and have a question about modifying the rear axle to accommodate the frame.
The rear wheels I have looked at were 130 & 135mm. My frame is 150. Will I be able to just switch out the axle for a longer one?

idk about gettin an axle in that length and if it woudl be strong enough, but if you have 150mm spacing wouldn't that use a 12mm axle? if you space from a 130 it'll be 10mm
also teh 150mm frame is so you can build wheels without dish to make em stronger, just like a ss wheel, so you could get a ss conversion kit for any 150 hub, and u'd be fine

I love the GT triple-tri anyways, but a 150mm Ruckus? Look at the HT TT jctn gussets. Pretty KEWL, man. What year is it?
Ya...go buy a dedicated 150mm rear wheel. Pinkbike.com, or ebay.
Thank you for the replies. From the research I did, I believe the frame is an '06.
I'll just keep my eyes out for a 150mm or see how much it will be to get one built.

Get a "cassette type" singlespeed cog. I've been running 32f/15r and grunt my guts out on the climbs, but for an urban ride...it could be okay. I've been recommended running a 32/17 for singletrack.
I got a set of spacers from my LBS to convert mine over.
I found this rear on eBay. Will this hold up with dirt/urban? Decent price?
Subjective question, really. Are you a smooth rider?
Smooth??? I would equate "smooth" as being able to control my landings, not allowing all my weight to come smashing down on the bike. Is this what you're speaking of? Please correct me if I am wrong.
Then I would say that I am so so. I am not going to "get all gnarly on it" as my son would say. No massive stair jumps and major drops. My body would fall apart. :lol:
I have been riding fixed gear with my son off some curbs and small 3 stairs w/o damaging the wheels...yet.

Get in line my friend...When I posted pics of the frame I got PMs from several folks that had interest in the frame.
Hats off to all the people that sent PMs assisting me with the project and also to you chelboed!!
Now to look for a front wheel and fork.
Well crap man...if you need a front wheel too...sometimes they are running deals on OEM take-offs at Jensonusa.com.
They had a 150mm rear with a 20mm TA front from some Diablo Duallies that they parted out. Wonder if they still have any?
Need some input/suggestions on a fork for this project please?

Marzocchi Dirt Jam comp fork (7 3/8" stem). Hayes GX2 Mechanical Disc Caliper/Cable, 6 1/4 Hayes rotor; like new, barely used.
Is the steerer tube long enough?
