Hey gang,

Just a bit of an obscure question here.. how much (ball park figure) pricewise could I expect to knock off if I didn't want the following components? As far as I know, it's mostly mid-late 80's maybe early 90's Campy etc

HEADSET Record
HANDLE Cinelli
STEM Cinelli
BRAKE Record
FRONT DERAILLEUR Record
REAR DERAILLEUR Super Record
BOTTOM BRACKET Record
CRANKSET Record 42-52 170mm
SPROCKET SHIMANO ULTEGRA 12-24T 6 SPEED
WHEEL MAVIC MA-40 36H
SEAT POST Record

Cheers and thanks in advance,

vg

Are you asking how much you could sell those items for?

Headset $60
Handlebar $10
Stem $10
Brakeset $80-100 w/ good hoods
FD: $15
RD: $75
Crankset: $70 dpending on condition
Ultegra sprockets: not much
Wheelset: $50-100 depending on hubs and rim wear
Seat post: $40-$X depending on size and condition

thanks for the ballpark figure, mj!

the seller gave me an asking price which i think is a bit high, and i was just trying to see how much i should counter offer if i asked him to remove all the components.. looks like i can knock off a small chunk from your estimation.

thanks!

I paid $375 for a 1989 Chorus group, including wheel set and considered it quite fair. It did not include the headset.

Thats an entirely different scenario. I'd reduce the price by no more than 30-40% of what I posted, possibly less. Consider those prices to be 'retail', when removing parts you should be credited something less than 'whoesale'.

As an example, if your didnt want the SR rear derailleur I'd knock it down by $25-30. The parts I listed add up to $500-ish. If the sellers asking $450 for the bike and removes all of the parts listed he's not going to give you the frame and give you $50!! This is a classic example of how parting a bike out yeilds more profit.

Exit.

You're better off paying the full price and selling off the components you don't want. You might even break even.
