Hello.

Just signed up on the forums and new to building bikes and have a newbie question.

I am looking into purchasing a used wheelset for my SS MTB project and have a question about modifying the rear axle to accommodate the frame.

The rear wheels I have looked at were 130 & 135mm. My frame is 150. Will I be able to just switch out the axle for a longer one?

Your frame is 150 mm? How did you measure it? The correct way to measure rear dropout width is between the INSIDE faces of the dropouts. Old MTB frames and most current road bikes are 130 mm and newer (say from about 1990 onward) MTB frames are 135 mm. The only frames commonly wider than that are tandems.
