I didn't have time to ride. I did registration for a club ride and then worked the food stop all day. The bike never left the rack:(

107 degrees here in the Great Valley....but once our dry heat goes over 100, it doesn't seem to make a difference out on the roads except my energy drink gets even more like warm piss. When I went in for a flu shot last fall, the nurse noticed my tan and asked if I was a farmer. Sweet soul.

102 degrees, no sleep, and baby-sitting a new puppy. Wanted to get out before it warmed up, but the puppy decided I didn't need any sleep, so had to stay home. Couldn't even ride the stationary!

One of the first really spectacular weather weekends of the year in Seattle. Snow-capped mountains in every direction - lots of cyclists out and around.

33 miles Saturday - I rode to a bike shop to look at commuting bikes.

39 miles Sunday - was home by 9:45 a.m. because I was "needed" for something else after that.

Did the Yakima River Canyon ride, 38 miles. The canyon road is closed once a year to traffic; it's bikes only. This is a fund raiser for Crime Stoppers. I think it would be a neat idea to let cars use the canyon road only one day a year, and bikes all the other days, but it's a hard sell.

We did a charity ride on Saturday, on the tandem, in a driving rainstorm. Brakes don't work as well when the rims are wet so speed can get a little dicey on downhills.

I forgot her helmet cover.

I didn't put the fenders on the tandem.

Note to self: do not make a remark about how the stoker makes a pretty good rear wheel mud shield for the captain.

Mrs. Mono is not speaking to me.

So I spent Sunday putting a drum brake on the tandem.

How often does May 17th come on a Sunday??

That doesn't answer my question.

But to answer your question, over the course of hundreds of years, May 17th will fall on a Sunday 1/7th of the time.

It has been a while before 2009. Last three were 1998, 1992, and 1987.

But some people here do keep good riding logs.

Mais oui!

59 degrees in D.C. in May. Every time I think I'm done with knee warmers for the year, I'm proven wrong. I'll make sure to bring the snowshoes with me to the weekend place for Memorial Day.
