I am looking for some info on this bike. When I was a kid I grew up on a Schwinn Caliente. I loved that awful bike but I grew out of it as it was like a 16" frame. When i went shopping for my next road bike in 1996 I had been "priced out" of the market as most road bikes were in the 1k+ range. Lot's of money to a 16 year old...I bought a Trek 850 at that time, and I've put a lot of miles on it. Anyway, the thought came to me last week that I really missed having a road bike and getting that I'm a bit doughy lately I thought it might be a good time to start riding again. I meant to air up my tires last week but realized I didn't have an air pump anymore... and a terribly long and boring story short, someone was selling a road bike at work this week. 21" frame, so good for my height, Mongoose brand, which I knew had been "good" years earlier, and other "stuff" that led me to believe this is a mid range or higher end bike than what is sold in the big box stores. That said, I donno much about it. The guy I bought it from was second owner, and there is no model number or anything I can make out on the frame to give me more info. I have searced all over the 'net and mostly only find mountain bikes and hybrids, and a lot of kids bikes, but very few road bikes with the designation.

The frame is alumninum,marked "7005."
The front fork is Chromoly
it has a campagnolo 16 speed gear set - which seems like it needs a little refurb. I think the lines may be stretched or something? Other than that the operation is smooth, the gears are not chipped (like they are on my mtn bike which I beat the crap out of growing up :) ) and are clean and smooth. The bike is definetely well cared for, but I would like a little more information about it.
Anyway! Im not much of a biker anymore but hopefully I will get back into the habit, as when I was I loved it. And my girlfriend loved me more cuz I didn't have this spare tire :(
