Ok, So I bought myself a new hitch for carrying a bike rack. Now I am up to buying a rack. There are some that I like - because of the cost mainly  Especially the ones with the "crank mount" instead of frame mounting seem neat to me. Not too big easy on/off etc. Are the any cons to crank mounting? I mean the forces will not be as big compared to me bashing away on the bike itself...

It is very rare to see a crank mounted rack in the US. Yakima may be the only company that makes one available here.
Here, those racks that support the bike by the wheels are more likely to capture the seatpost or top tube or even the tops of the wheels than the crankarm.
