Hi,
I just purchased a brand new 2004 Trek 4500 today. I got the red/silver color combination. However I was just a little concerned that I may have been sold a different or older model bike because the colors on my bike are reversed from what is shown on the picture on the catalog and the website. In other words, the website picture has a red headtube and everything else silver, whereas my bike has a silver headtube and everything else red. Should I be worried? Is there anyone else that has a bike like this? Thanks in advance for your help!

If the following is what your 4500 looks like, then you have a 2002 4300.

Take the bike back and get the correct 2004 model. The 2004 has a better and lighter frame, better drivetrain, and a few other parts.

Actually it does pretty much looks like a 2004 model, but it's just that the colors are reversed. Here is an actual picture of my bike.

At a race a few weekends ago, I met someone with a '04 4500 that looked exactly like the actual pic of yours. Everything should be ok.
Just ride your bike! :D (forgot who I stole that saying from :))

Maybe you got a special edition or something? If you want to be really sure you could ask Trek about it.

special edition? yeah, that would be cool ;-)
I've sent a message to Trek about it, let's see what they say. I really like my bike so far, but I guess I just want to make sure that I didn't pay for something that it's not. The components seem to match what the website says... I don't know, just thought it was weird that my bike doesn't show on the catalog, that's all.

I like yours better.
The Product Manager at Trek probably did too and decided to change it after the pics for the website were made. Slight deviations like that happen all the time!
Everything else appears to be a 2004.
Worry less, ride more!

Glad to hear that someone has seen other bikes similar to mine. I also did hear from Trek on this. I gave them my serial number and they confirmed it is a 2004 model. Anyway, thanks to all for your help!
I will follow your advice to worry less and ride more :)
That is definitely a 2004. Ride on!
