I'm looking at the Raleigh Tourer - think it might be a good commuting/touring bike. Thoughts?
You lost me. You are looking for a Raleigh tourer and you posted a link to a Nishiki mountain bike.

Wow... umm... yeah... :wtf:

Edit: And after looking at the Boise C/L I couldn't even find a Raleigh "tourer".

COOL!! The Raleigh morphed into a Nishiki. I say go for it:D. Not that I'm partial to Nishiki's or anything like that, but yeah I'd go for it. Offer him $90, I'll bet he takes it.

This thread is also going to morph locations, since it's a value inquiry.

Your computer must be fancier than mine. All I see is a Nishiki.

I beg to differ, miamijim. The Crested Butte was Raleigh's flagship MTB back in the day and those old XT components are nice. I would definitely buy that if it were my size/my area. It'd make a really nice 26" tourer, commuter, or whatever.
OP, go for it.

Thank you. I'm looking at it on Thursday (payday) so that will decide things. :thumb:
If you are on a budget, then the rigid framed mountain bikes can make a decent compromise. But the by design touring bikes are quite a bit nicer.
I have found several higher end Trek rigid mountain bikes, with nice frames and good components in this price range.

Ummmm....NO, was in regards to the picture and description being in the link in post #1.
But, I do agree, as far as the bike goes, if your the end user $100 is fair.
