Ok, I'm wanting to upgrade the drive train of my bike. It has a triple crankset right now and uses SCRAM X.7 twist grip shifters. I want to go to a compact double. I also want to upgrade to X.9 trigger shifters.

1)I know I have to get a double FD, but will the trigger shifters work with only two rings instead of three?

2)Will this, trigger shifters and compact double, work with a 9 speed cassette on the back?

Thanks, Jerry

You may be able to use your current FD, what sizes are your triple rings and what FD are you using? The X.9 shifters should work fine as long as your derailers are properly adjusted, you will just have an unused position on the front shifter.

I'm going from a 30/39/52 to a 36/48. And its a Tiagra Triple FD.

I think that FD would work just fine with a 36/48 double crank. I'm sure there are others who've switched before with no problems.
