Does 5'7" count as short?

i guess im short. it seems like everybody is taller than me.

i am 5'9" and i just realized that my only friends that are shorter than me are women. then still i think more than half of them are still taller than me :notamused: what the heck is in the water!

Me, too. But according to the "Tall Clydes" thread that qualifies us as short. ;)

I always figured that for men, 5'7" to 5'11" was kinda average and tall started around 6' or so, I'm 179cm which works out to around 5'10".... Under 5'7" would be considered short.

5'6 AND 3/4, thank you.

I prefer the term "fireplug"

When I was a young man, I had heard or read that average height for U.S. men was ~5'7".

30 years later, it's now 5' 9.5".

see http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhsr/nhsr010.pdf

Men's heights at page 16.

The mean height for my age group is 5'9". Either I've always been an inch shorter than average, or a bunch of short guys have died since I stopped growing.

The women's averages are on page 14. (5' 3.8")

Define short.

I'm 5'5.5" and declining from 187# to around 178 now, need to lose about another 35. Not likely to overstress any bike parts, but I have a lot of the same other issues as the "standard" clydes (200#/91 kg) do.

A wag friend from high school coined the phrase "broad for one's height."

5'7" ex-clyde, still overweight though just not enough to make the 200lb cutoff :-D

Add my name to the "under tall" list at 5'9". I prefer the term stocky:lol: At least that is what a lot of people have called me over the years.

Ditto the thoughts of Wogsterca. I am 5' 10" after a haircut and am gravitationally challenged. I always thought I was about average on the height, though I do look up to many.

I've never like "Clydesdale." I don't like Budweiser, either, so maybe that's the connection.

I wouldn't mind being called a Percheron, but when considering height, maybe our sub-class ought to be suitably diminutive. Maybe someone who knows horses could nominate a breed. American Quarter Horse? Morgan?

Anyone who qualifies as a Clyde based on HEIGHT is considered too tall for this thread :D
