By far the best of the three movies. This one gets more adult (Surprise, the kids are getting older) and much darker than the last two, just as the book did. It stands as a good flick by itself, but if you have read the books and you know the background of what is going on, it helps. The movie seems pretty faithful to the novel, but in all truth it has been two years since I read the book. The background activity adds quite a bit as well. The people in the pictures on the wall all react to what is going on, for instance. Most of the lead characters are back. Richard Harris has passed on and been replaced by Michael Gambon. He does a fair turn but I thought Richard Harris WAS Dumbledore. The director also changed, going from Chris Columbus to Alfonso Cuaron (Y tu Mama Tambien). A wise move.
My only complaints, it slows a bit in the middle and it seems like it is done for the fans of the book. My wife came with me and asked questions several times as the background was just assumed of the viewer.

I want to see it. I have never read a Harry Potter book in my life. I never even watched a Harry Potter movie tell last week when I rented the first two. They where pretty good movies and I enjoyed them. The third sounds even better.

The plot was confoosing in places. (no, I have not read the book)
Then they used the forbidden cheating plot device - i.e. "go back in time and fix everything." Very naughty. 6 demerits for that.
Anyhoo, when's the next Lord of the Rings movie come out? :D

If you haven't read the books it can be a little confusing.
In the book Hermione used the time twister almost from the beginning so it does not come across a a suddenly introduced plot device.
I am pretty sure J.R. is dead, so you better get typing. Frodo must have had a cousin or niece that could go out on adventure when he gets older.

Argh... LOTR <groan>

I was coerced to sit through that entire trilogy of what, nine hours plus. I want my time back! Yeah, yeah... JRRT was the father of that line of the fantasy genre... BFD! The person that hijacked my time wouldn't even give back three hours and watch Pulp Fiction with me last night. The epitome of selfishness!

That would be a bit much at one shot. Even for someone that sells D&D figures for a living :) If they wouldn't watch Pulp Fiction but spent 9 on LOTR you need to watch out for them. They don't refer to your circle of freinds as the nine, do they?

No, no, no... you misunderstood. Or perhaps I wasn't entirely clear... we watched the DVD's as they were released. Phew.. no way could I watch 9 hours of anything, even Twin Peaks all at one shot.

yeah, it seems as tho' she has some issues with Quinten Tarrintino. I say fug the issues, you owe me. Besides, it's a cool flick!

Really. I haver seen True Romance (Fantastic), Pulp Fiction (Fantastic), Reservoir Dogs (Fantastic), Dusk til Dawn (Ok, a little weak). Haven't seen the Kill Bills yet.
Maybe you could wean her in with Dogs and Dawn, he is in them and gets killed.
The Guy is just an amazing dialogue writer (Him and Kevin Smith). I wish I could write half that well, then I could afford to just work on my own bikes. :)
