Hi all!

I'm looking to buy my boyfriend a hybrid bike. He lives in NYC in a 5 floor walk up so needless to say it needs to be a mangable weight! He currently doesn't own a bike, but has said that he would like a hybrid. I want to surprise him with a bike, and I know it's a risk, but I'm trying to do as much research as I can to find best bike for him.

I'm looking to spend around $500. I've looked at the Trek 7.2fx, 7.3fx and it was suggested I look at the Cannondale Quick 4. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments that would sway me to one of these bikes? Is there a huge difference between the 7.2 and 7.3fx?

Any help or feedback would be appreciated!!!!

Thank you!

What about a folding bike like this?

A bit over your budget but not a huge ton. Something to think about, anyway. Good luck.

The 7.3 was a great starter bike for me. Bikes are like shoes though. If you want him to use it, he needs to ride a couple and pick one that fits well. It does take a bit of the surprise factor away, but in the end there's a much better chance of him riding regularly if he chooses his own.

Thanks for the info...I think you are right, it may be better for him to pick out his own!
