So here I am in Chicago and the way things are going now I think I'll pretty much be going from here straight to Tokyo in a year or so with nary an inch of singletrack anywhere along the way. And so I'm thinking of converting my Trek MTB to a city-oriented singlespeed. Get a new rear wheel built, get me a chain tensioner, throw on some Armadillos, paint the thing black, and go. If its trail days are fundamentally over for at least the next 4-5 years (assuming it doesn't die or get stolen in the mean time), is there really any reason not to do this? I'm thinking no, but could use some outside opinions.

Wow, one response and you're on it.

That makes you either a "yes" man or an easy sell.

I see no reason not to be easy when I want it.

Oh come on - it was a perfect set up. I'm disappointed now. :(

It must be from hanging out with 165. I can just imagine 165 showing skitbra how to cane the kiddies to keep them in line.
