I'm in Houston and looking for ideas for a 3 day 4th of July weekend somewhere in the hill country.

I have a wife who likes to lay by the pool and a 4 year old that needs constant entertainment (pool, playground, whatever, just something to keep her entertained and active). I'd like to get in a good ride or two in the mornings.

Anyone have any suggestions that combine hotel, location, and rides? I'm willing to spend some money if I can pull it all together.

The more specific the better. Thanks!

Garner State Park, or any of the many private campgrounds, cabins in the area, ranging from low rent to ultra luxo, all situation on the Frio river, one of the prettiest in the state.

Book early. For routes, google "Texas Hell Week" and plan for long distances between towns.

Or, Kerrville / Fredericksburg. Tourist friendly, quaint antique shops, and plenty of great riding.

Sorry for the bump, but I don't have much time.

How about New Braunfels?

You can combine rides in the morning with river tubing later in the day.
