Hey guys.
I am planning a trip to Iceland and I know its one of best places for cycling tours.
Has anyone been there?
Is there any cycling groups that would guide me?
There are alot of bike tours over there, but I wish to have the freedom to cycle where ever I want rather than follow a tour guide.
Any information about Iceland would be appreciated.

I have been there but not for cycling. it is an amazing country, very beautiful. Try to get to see the geysers and glaciers :)
I hope you like headwinds? Or any winds for that matter. It can get a bit shaky even in a car, says a friend who has lived there. There can be times when you simply cannot bike. But the scenery is apparently worth the trouble.
Regarding self supported tours, there are a few Iceland tour journals on www.crazyguyonabike.com. Those might have useful information.

The journals are very interesting. There is one about Iceland posted by Jill Lundmark with lots of photos. It is a very interesting read.

It's insanely windy. Make sure you have an damn sturdy tent for when you need to bunker down for a while....

The journals are very interesting. There is one about Iceland posted by Jill Lundmark with lots of photos. It is a very interesting read.I know. Whenever I refer to crazyguy's site I spend an hour or three reading the journals there myself. :beer:
If you go, please keep a diary for the rest of us. We have a tour log forum in BF too, you know...
