Northeast - riding boardwalk nj question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm visiting New Jersey from California in a couple weeks and was wondering if it's still possible to ride on the boardwalk that goes into Asbury Park, and if so, what are the hours that bicycles are allowed on there. In years past (about 15 years past!) I rode from Pt Pleasant to Asbury Park with several miles on the boardwalk and am hoping to do that again on this trip.
Also, if anyone can recommend a bike shop in the area that could provide bike route information, I'd appreciate it. I've found the bike route website for New Jersey, which looks like it will be helpful.
Thanks!
Anni
I'm not sure but I would guess that early mornings is probably the best time, it might be that bikes are banned after 10am but I may be wrong.. It's been a long time since I've been there..

On most boardwalks I've been to along the NJ shore have bike access until 10am, I imagine Asbury Park is no different though since there isn't much on the boardwalk anymore it might not be enforced.

I believe Asbury Park is 10am or 11am. Spring Lake I think is 9am. Brielle Cyclery has a store right on the Asbury Park boardwalk and should have some information. http://briellecyclery.com/

I do that ride almost every day. Asbury is 10:00, so is Ocean Grove and Bradley Beach I believe the same for Belmar. From Labor Day to Memorial day you can ride all day. September is the best time it’s warm and not a lot of people, plus the ocean is still in the 70’s.
I rode on the Asbury Boardwalk yesterday at 3:00PM and no one bothered me. There is a nice Irish Pub at the Arcade, with good food. Actually the boardwalk in Asbury is starting to come back, there are now several nice restaurants on the boardwalk. Once you get past Asbury Park; Deal and Long Branch have bike lanes along Ocean Avenue
I second what ChrisOG said. Last time I rode there, I actually rode through the old convention center. Fun, but kind of sad, too, because I remember when Asbury Park wasn't so downtrodden. Riding around Ocean Grove is fun, too.
