I really like the design of the e-bike kit found in the link below, but the motor / battery seems to be under powered for my needs.

Anyone know of a compact all-in-one controller/battery pack like the one see in the Hill Topper?

Why do you like it? What will you be using it for?

I like the fact that you can unplug the controller and battery, only thing left on the bike is the wire, motor and throttle.

I am working on bike commuting about 16 miles each way to work daily. My total estimated weight for bike, laptop, supplies, motor, battery will be around 300lbs on a Trek 7.2. I have about 5 hills with anywhere between 2 and 7% grade for a total rise in elevation (sum of all hills) of about 2500 ft.

My goals are to be able to pedal at a decent pace without killing my knees and getting up the hills while trying to maintain about a trip time around 1 - 1.25 hours (about 15-17mph avg).

I looked at ezip, but the concerns with the battery and the noisy motor have me looking at other options.

Anyone got suggestions?

Thanks
Brent

I'm sure it will not work out for you. In fact, I have a two similar under powered kits I tried. The maxium speed for the kit you mentioned in 10mph. Therefore, it takes 1 hour & 36 minutes at least if you go strict on flat non-stop. In the more realistic world with hills + stop & go traffic, it usually takes a bit more than 2 hours. You would go faster by just go pedal alone. Actually almost all the kits out there allows you to put both the controller + battery in a removable bag for portability & charge @ remote locations. :)
