That root canal threw me some complications. It wasn't the root canal itself that was the problem, but the (apparent) minor ear ache I had before I had it.

I think the root canal aggravated it and turned it in to a full blown nightmare of an ear ache. On top of that I started vomiting Friday night too....apparently my body doesn't agree with vicodin. I spent Friday through Monday feeling like somebody was jabbing a pencil about 6 inches in to my ear. I ended up going to the urgent care (walk-in clinic) facility on Saturday and got prescribed some antibiotic ear drops. I stopped puking when I stopped the vicodin....though ibuprofen wasn't quite cutting it. Doc said he thought I should be feeling better by Sunday night (it was more like Tuesday morning).

Anyway, it's nice to not be in so much pain you can think straight enough to even remember your name again.

You can say that again! Miserable doesn't even begin to cover it.

did you hit any icebergs in the fog?

Possibly. Maybe that is what was jammed in my ear all weekend.

Yuck. When I was a teenager I had a root canal without any painkiller. I had a dentist that used to finish his drilling in 10 seconds (he would count them) and you would have the option of having a numb mouth for the day or not. I went with not. But I developed a real dread of dentist I can tell you!

But with some of the stories I hear about those who used pain killer, perhaps it really wasn't that bad.

I had an ear thing like that once. They said there was fluid build up or something.

There was definitely fluid build up. I could hear it in my ear at times. If I could bear the pain enough to get a q-tip partially in, it came out wet with ear fluid. There was also a lot of infection along the walls of the ear canal.

Sounds like you had something very similar. It was pretty painful and miserable, wasn't it?
