Folding Bikes - Question for those who have Folderitis: How Many Folders You Got

hi all,

maybe a repeat of a previous question - but just curious (and to justify my folderitis also), what is the norm for people who have folderitis on the number of folders they have ? to start with - within a span of 4 months 1 acquired 4 folders. tokyo (my very first folder and the reason why i got hooked on folders), A-bike, dahon boardwalk D6 and Dahon boardwalk D7 (which i am currently upgrading). now i am trying to convince my wife that i really need to buy a carryme for my multi modal commute.

Moulton Speed 4 (well, not really a folder, but still a SWB)

I totally totally want a Dahon Mu frame to upgrade into a super roadie dropper...but that's for when I actually have the strength and stamina to drop roadies. Moar training!!!

raleigh twenty ... just acquired and needing some TLC.

nice...why not bullhorn for ease of folding ? i am doing the same thing with my D7. i already upgraded the seat to Pro SR1, changed the crankset to shimano 105, BB to a shimano hollowtech II. on order - shimano RD and FD, shimano v brake/shifter combo, profile design T2 wing handlebar. thinking of upgrading the wheels also. it depends as i might just order from thor....

I rarely have to fold it up all the way, and I think I figured out how to fold it with drop bars installed.

sorry. i tried asking for help, too but no luck. this folderitis thing is so contagious......

If money were no object, I would gladly add a few more to my stable.

just got ,a dahon curve + 2 mezzos that makes three folders.

I have owned about a dozen up to now.

how's the restoration coming along ??? any new pics ?

Just stripped all the components off the frame today (while I'm taking a "mental health holiday" from school/lab, lol). Will get pics of it once I clean off all the rust.

Two but they barely qualify as folders: 1968 Raleigh Compact RSW and a 1971 Raleigh Twenty. I am saving and shopping for another one, looks like it most likely will be a custom Season Tikit. Having a pedal to saddle dimension in the 38" range limits my choices. Wanting IGH, dyno hub and other goodies limits it even more.:p

Started off with a cheap Chinese bike just to test the folder concept. Then moved on to a Dahon MU SL and now have a Brompton S-type lightweight. I would like to add a Pashley Moulton TSR 30 as a touring bike and either a Bike Friday Pocket Llama or an Airnimal Rhino for riding trails.

Folderitis? gulp ... never seemed so chronic until I write it down... some live in various extended homes.. girlfriends and ex-wives involved.. okay, no excuses ..

In 2003/04 bought my first two Dahon Helios folders from West Marine and rode them until late 2005.. then it appears the bug hit bad.

wow....reading all those posts it seems that i only had a mild case of folderitis. i thought that mine was worst. now it pales in comparison to all of you guys. i was in san francisco mission street this pm and i saw about 100s of road bikes and just 1 folder. this girl was riding a dahon mu ( i think) but it made me stopped and stared at her bike unlike the road bikes. i think i should start looking at carryme or brompton (and buy either one) to make myself bonafide folderitis member.....

There may have been a R20, when it has comtempary ! (showing my age),
And a Universal, but that was my Mums,honest.....

at the moment i have:

one Puegoet nuveo 22in wheels, baskets and racks for the shops, (wifes bike)
one bridgestone picnica, virtually mint, 14in wheels, collapsable rear stays to lay frame back on itself, lives in bedroom, (small enough to be the indoor bike)
two raleigh twenties,
one blue 74 with most stuff stripped and new seat/post/stem/bars etc, soon to have SA 8spd hub and v-brakes (my twenty for the one in twenty)
the other brown 75in bits awaiting hydraulic disc brake conversion to the original SA 3 spd, just cos...to see if i can..
always have an eye out for more, it seems easier to hide the small bikes in the shed
i may have to oust some of the other bikes to make space.
