4 straight days of rain and it's doesn't look like it's letting up anytime soon. Just awesome. :(

Feel free to complain in here. :thumb:

The lawn is very brown, I will ride the trainer or take a spin class and not complain.

Did you see the radar images? It looks like a stalled, very slow, wanna-be hurricane.

I don't do the trainer; I've been riding in the wind and rain. Maybe next Monday, Tuesday, the sun will come back??? Under 20 mph winds would be nice, too.

I actually dont mind the rain.
When its 95 degrees a little rain can be nice.
Some of the kind thats come down here, no....but,
a little shower with 5 miles to go, nice ! :)

I agree... A shower in the summer during a ride isn't too bad at all. Dont really like the lightning though. But to start a ride in the mid to upper 60's.... tooo cold for me now that im old :P
.
Like I mentioned in another thread..... I think if I rode on my trainer now the dust would fly off and blind me... Bought it thinking I would use it for days like we have been having.... But OMG its sooooo sooo boring... I've tried everything, movie, tv show, music... NOPE still too boring... LOL ..

The same system is screwing up everything to Chareston, SC. I've had the heater on the help with the dampness in the house, as it was too cold to use the AC.

This is what the weather map has looked like for 3 days in Orlando and tomorrow will be just the same.:notamused:

My daughter in Tampa did get out for about 20 miles between storms this afternoon, lucky her.:thumb:

We sure need the rain. Hopefully it will be gone for the long weekend and some early morning rides. I rode the MS150 Citrus Tour this past weekend, sure glad this weather didn't get here two days sooner. That would have been no fun at all.

Was to do the Ride of Silence this evening, but it was a down pour and I just don't like riding as a lightening rod.

Been able to get some riding in the last few days. Nice change from the low 90's we've been having - actually refreshing to ride in some light rain. But when the lightening begins - time to pack it in. Our area has been parched, so I'm very glad to see several days of rain.

Well I'm off to Lowe's to buy some lumber and the wife is gathering all of the animals (2 of each). Day four now, so I guess we can expect thirty six more.:notamused: They are telling people in Daytona not to flush and they have closed schools and 35 streets.:notamused:

Wow

Im sorry to hear that kjc.
I hope this stuff goes over before it hits you harder.
We got lightening and thunder last nite like the hammer of Thor.
Power blinked on and off, cats go nuts, etc........
Now, the wind is at about a steady 20mph howl and I can hear the
waves breaking hard !

Best of luck to you.

No respectable ark would leave the dock without bike racks and a mini-Velodrome.:roflmao2:

Location: Ontario??!! You lost or sumptin? This is the Southeastern US forum, not Canada!

HEY LOOK EVERYBODY!! It's one of those backwards New Yorkers! You know .... the New Yorker says, "Ehhhh ... what are you looking at??!!", and the Canadian says, "What are you looking at, ehhh??!!" :roflmao2:

Tell me, what is this "solid rain" of which you speak?

Well it is just normal central FL weather. Unless we are having flooding somewhere, we are in a drought.

I did the century (why was it only 90 miles?) and had a blast.

The only bummer was that last stretch coming into Orlando. No shoulder and cars blowing by me at 60+ and less than a foot away at times. I've never been so spooked on my bike before

I've had 17.6" since Sunday night at my house. It finally stopped this morning to just small little light waves now. It had not rained on my house in almost a month, and then 17"+ in 3 days. Way more than we can handle with the drainage around here. At least I don't live on the river, they are sucking with all the back up at high tide. I don't mind riding in the rain, but the temps were in the low 60's and I just can't ride wet in those temps.

I know I am frustrated. It seems like every day, right at 4 or 5; it decides to just dump rain for about 30 minutes. Just enough to delay the ride or make it wet. Oh well, I'll just enjoy it why we got it.

We'd better get used to it. I just checked ten day forecast. Looks like ten more todays.

At least over here in Tampa, it's been nice most days, and just dumping between 4 & 7 at night.

Woohoo, 2 solid days in a row with no rain. Now it going to be 95 today, but at least the humidity will not be off the chart. Maybe my yard can dry out a little before the next wave that should start on Sunday.

Blazing hot, but dry, on the space coast this week. I'll take it.

I have to say, the 4 o'clock rains are really making it difficult for the 5 o'clock commute. And I'm not about to bring a change of clothes for a ~1 mile commute and a 3 hour shift :notamused:.

think this might be a south florida thing only but how do you guys deal with the huge amounts of gnats/mosquitoes that appear during the evening? thats basically my only time to ride and i get really turned off when i get a mouthful of bugs

I used to ride the Gainesville Hawthorne trail a lot just before dark and UGGG some nights the gnats were just crazy. Kinda weird thought they would mostly hang out in big swarms right in the middle of the trail, the more you stayed to the side the better off you were. A couple of weeks ago right after the huge amount of rain we had my plan was to ride 10 miles to a nice bench on the trail take a rest and turn around. I no more than got off my bike and leaned it against the bench when I was swarmed by what seemed like a 100 mosquitoes. NO REST.... got back on the bike and headed back...

This is not just a S. Fla thing, it's a Florida thing. I have been hit by bats before when I was riding between 7 - 9 pm. It's just part of the deal and I had to get used to it. If it's really bad, I will wait until later, after 9 to ride and it really lessons the amount of bugs in the air.

I'm pretty new at this and have been riding early in the. Will be riding in the evenings this week. Thanks for telling me what to expect. I have high hopes that it's not bats!

That bug issue must be elsewhere. Not sure if it's the city and county spraying to keep the bugs under control, but I've >>Thankfully<< not ran into more than a one or two type deal. Usually fewer on the areas I ride than around the house. Where I get killed is when I cut my grass here at home.
