Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and had been browsing a bit prior to this post. As the subject suggests, I'm headed off to Ireland in June for a 2 week biking trip through the western countryside, and here's a map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Ennis,+Co.+Clare,+Ireland&daddr=Milltown+Malbay,+Co.+Clare,+Republic+of+Ireland+to:Doolin,+Co.+Clare,+Ireland+to:Ballyvaghan,+ Co.+Clare,+Ireland+to:Oranmore,+Co.+Galway,+Ireland+to:Oughterard,+Co.+Galway,+Ireland+to:Clifden,+C o.+Galway,+Republic+of+Ireland+to:Leenane,+County+Galway,+Republic+of+Ireland+to:Westport,+Co.+Mayo, +Republic+of+Ireland+to:Cong,+County+Mayo,+Republic+of+Ireland+to:Oranmore,+Co.+Galway,+Ireland&hl=en&geocode=%3B%3B%3B%3B%3B%3B%3BFebKMQMd-A5s_w%3B%3BFZM4MQMdV8Zx_w%3B&gl=us&mra=ls&dirflg=w&sll=53.31723,-9.465104&sspn=1.309337,2.59552&ie=UTF8&ll=53.265213,-8.239746&spn=2.622032,5.19104&z=8) if you're curious.

It averages out to ~25 +/- 5 miles a day because there are a few one-night stops here and there. I was wondering what you guys recommend I bring along, considering that I'm going with a legitimate company: http://irishcyclehire.com/ so the important stuff is largely taken care of.

What I'm mainly concerned about is apparel. I figure after 10 days on a bike, it might hurt quite a bit down there since I'm a guy. I have no long-distance biking experience, but I'm young and in pretty good shape. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

You might want to post this question in the Touring Forum:

The Long Distance Forum is more for centuries, double centuries, brevets, 24-hour races, and stuff like that. :)

Thanks! As you can tell, I'm new to this stuff so I wasn't really sure.
