Bicycle Mechanics - Replacement shifter?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. We have a couple of Yeah folding bikes that use the Shimano SL-TX50-6R shifters. On one bike, the plastic housing for the shifter is cracked / broken. It's a 6 speed shifter. Does anyone know if it can be replaced with another brand shifter? If not, is there somewhere one can buy a Shimano replacement online?
Looking around on the internet, I see the part listed, but not a place to purchase it.
Thanks.

Here's an exact replacement on UK ebay, and they seem to be willing to ship to the US: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SHIMANO-RIGHT-6-SPEED-TOP-SHIFT-GEAR-SHIFTER-SL-TX50-6R_W0QQitemZ380123156187QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090510?IMSfp=TL0905101110001r7377

I know a pro bike mechanic who swears by the Shimano SL-TX30 shifters like these (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SHIMANO-SL-TX30-TOURNEY-SIS-Index-6-Speed-Shifter_W0QQitemZ230339059286QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090424?IMSfp=TL090424203006r2591). My own experience with them is that they're inexpensive and work very well.
