Foo - Suck on the nipple or just squirt it into your mouth?

I've often wondered but never studied too closely how most people take a drink. I've noticed some people squirt it sideways, from a distance. I've always been content to put my mouth directly on it and squeeze. Is there a "correct" way to drink from a water bottle that I've been missing?

depends on if I just ran through a big, dirty puddle next to a porter potty or if I just came out of a particularly dusty road.

I tried doing the snooty Euro-cyclist groovy way of grasping the bottle overhand so when you bring it up it's already upside-down, but it's not for me. It's bad enough I'm already willing to put on tights and ride around in public. I'm not gonna pinkies-out the water bottle.

We have a winner!

I on the fly, just sip upright and wipe it off with my jersey without breaking stride.

If I try to do the squirt from a distance thing, I usually miss, so I fall squarely into the "suck on the nipple" category.

Since my wife is nursing, this thread had a completely different meaning for me...

But water bottles? Depends on the bottle. I squirt when I can, but I have a few stiff bottles that I can't squeeze.
