Bicycle Mechanics - Frame dents

I just bought an old road bike frame with the intent of converting it into a fixie. I have 3 fairly large dents in the frame though. Should I bondo them strictly for cosmetics or are they too large and will they affect the integrity of the frame? What are my other options? It IS a steel frame...

Those dents are functional- they allow for more tire clearance (on the insides of the chainstay) and clearance for a chainring (on the outside of the chainstay.)

the dents were put there by the manufacturer.the inner ones are for more room in there for different tires sizes,and the outer one is for the chainrings so they don't rub on the frame.in other words it fine just go ahead buildup the bike and repaint it if that your plans.

Is he referring to the manufacturer-crimped tubes or is he referring to damage dents? At least, I think I see three dents that are a form of damage. One is on the seat tube (look for circular paint feature).The other two are both on the right side chain stay (as if bike were dragged across a hard surface).

If I am reading the photos correctly, I would first have the frame alignment checked - dented tubes usually mean some degree of geometric deformation, especially the chainstay. If the geometry is good, you can consider cosmetic repair of the dents.

There is not a dent on the seat tube... just those two bottom tubes. Not sure what those are called. So you think that would be from the manufacturer?

those crimps are pretty normal on all bikes.

those are definitely part of the design (in case you needed more confirmation).
