i picked up 2 NOS campagnolo record strada tubular rims a few weeks back for 20 bucks. other than a weight of 330g I dont know much about these rims. are they good at all? i am 5'9" and 135, these should hold up well, yes?

Looks like you got a good deal on some nice rims. They should be plenty strong for you unless you ride where there are lots of potholes you can't dodge.

do you know the year these were in production?

Early to mid '80's.

(Look great with C-record!)

Strong enough for almost all stuff, except they really don't like sharp-edged potholes. (I am the same height/weight as you). 36 hole 3 cross is the way mine were built, and I didn't get much wheel flex. the anodising seems to last a long while on the braking surface, much better than a similar pair of Ambrosio wheels did.

PS. that's a great price. I hate you.

Yeah, that's a great price. I got some Victory Strada (similar but gold-anodized and a wee bit heavier) rims recently, for $30 or $50, I don't remember- I'm scared to use them because I despise the way gold anodizing wears out.

But that is a great deal, if you prefer gold, I can trade you. :P

I'm glad for your awesome score, let's see the built up wheels!

would it be blasphemous to use modern 24h 10sp campagnolo compatible hubs?

The nice thing about tubular rims is that they can still be true with a few dings where a clincher might go completely out of round. The lack of a hook bead makes them a bit more forgiving in the abuse department.

You need to use a 36 spoke hub.A modern cassette hub would work okay with a 36 spoke hub but the 24 spoke hub and dish required for a 10 speed cassette would make a very weak wheel.

Well I forgot to mention they are 24h rims...

set them up with old 24 h hubs as a single speed or fixed gear then, or at most a 7 speed freewheel.

the dish needed for a 10 or 11 speed cassette will break those wheels, especially if you try something funny like radial 8 / 2 cross 16 on the rear.

in that case how much would these rims sell for?

Try the Valuations sub-forum.

Or give them to me.

Either way, why not just use 7-speed.

I promise you that you don't need ten, buddy.
