So last sunday was the last ride I had done before falling to a very bad cold (had me in bed Mon-Wed, and feeling like crap up until yesterday). Today was the first day I didnt have an elevated HR just sitting around (well, it still was a little elevated, but only by about 2-3bpm..).
So, today I took my first ride in a week, went out easy.. but man alive, did it HURT!!! My legs felt like goo, and my HR was way over what it has been for similar riding. Example- on the first hill of the ride, I was doing about 12mph, and my HR was 185.. normally I dont see it over 175, doing 13-15mph up that hill..). Now the hills on this ride are not that bad, so I figured it would be a good first ride out (hard to go anywhere around here without hills). 20 miles later, I got home, thoroughly whomped, with my average speed down about 2mph, and my average HR up 10bpm. In otherwords, I guess I havent licked this thing yet..
I am going to be riding a metric century on this sunday, so now the quesiton is, what is the best thing to do? Bike a little?? Was this just a first day back after a week thing? Other than being on the bike, I feel like I am back to normal, but obviously not... :(
