Classic & Vintage - Trike conversion kit

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So today, my 86 year old neighbor and I were talking about bikes, and then he told me he was looking for a trike conversion kit for his wife's beach cruiser. I would like to surprise him by finding a kit and giving it to him. I have tried looking all over the internet for some for around $50 or so. Are there any out there that cheap? It doesn't need to be brand new. Thanks for the help. :)

There was some "talk" about this in the Utility forums some time back. I think Sianelle is the one who had used one.

Look in the cruisers/lowrider websites...
Here is one (http://www.spookytoothcycles.com/component/page,shop.product_details/category_id,74/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,178/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,1/vmcchk,1/) but it is ~$200 which seems to be the low average price. Here is another one (http://www.choppersus.com/store/product/740/Trike-Kit---Heavy-Duty-BLACK/) but doesn't seem as complete. Best bet would be to find a used trike somewhere or buy a new one. WM is selling a complete Chinese Schwinn Trike (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5679542) for $250. Might be the best way to go if someone will go over it with a fine tooth comb for him.
