Missouri City Offering Residents Online Survey On Pedestrian And Bicycle Needs

Missouri City, in partnership with the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments, is currently hosting an online survey about pedestrian and bicycle needs on select roadways in Missouri City.

The five- to ten-minute survey asks residents to offer feedback on their use of existing walking and bike paths, potential opportunities to improve pathways and opinions on pedestrian and bicycle access in Missouri City.

HGAC selected Missouri City for its Pedestrian and Bicycle Special Districts’ Study because of the city’s potential to enhance walking and biking opportunities along four roadways in the HGAC study area. Those roadways include Texas Parkway, Cartwright Road, Murphy Road and State Highway 6.

Responses to online survey, which is comprised of about 25 questions, will be used to shape a conceptual plan that will support safe pedestrian and bicycle mobility within the study area.

To take the survey today, visit www.missouricitytx.gov and click on the “Tell Us What You Think” link beneath the Missouri City Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan icon, located on the right hand side of the city’s home page.

Missouri City, H-GAC To Hold Open House On Pedestrian, Bicycle Needs

Missouri City residents who want better walking and biking facilities are being invited to voice their ideas at an open house sponsored by the city and the Houston-Galveston Area Council on June 25.

The meeting will take place in the former municipal court facility next to city hall. Hours for the open house will be 5 – 8 p.m.

The meeting will focus on pedestrian and bicycle needs along four select roadways in Missouri City. Those thoroughfares are Texas Parkway, Cartwright Road, Murphy Road and State Highway 6.

This spring, residents responded to an online survey about pedestrian and bicycle access on the four roads. H-GAC selected Missouri City for its Pedestrian and Bicycle Special Districts’ Study because of the city’s potential to enhance walking and biking paths along these four roads in the H-GAC study area. The survey results are shaping a conceptual plan that will support safe pedestrian and bicycle mobility within the study area.

Residents can stop by the open house to hear about study findings to date, as well as share their thoughts on existing paths and pedestrian and bicycle mobility in the city.

Missouri City and H-GAC staff and their consultants will be available to discuss mobility issues with residents, including the availability of bike lanes, recreational paths and trails; the feasibility and safety of roadway crossings and the adequacy of sidewalks in the community.

Formal presentations will be made at 6 and 7 p.m.
