View Full Version : Drivetrain noise?

I just built up my first fixed gear and have run into one minute issue with it so far, the drivetrain.
I knew beforehand that I MIGHT expect more noise than usual due to the cog/chainring-chain sizing, but now am not too happy with it.

I am running a 3/32" chainring/cog with a 1/8" chain. The noise is coming from the chain and rear cog.
My question is: Would I be able to eliminate this, or at least some of the noise simply by running a 1/8th" cog instead(as the chain seems to fall on the chainring just fine)?

Thanks much!

Why not just install a 3/32" chain?

Because I will eventually be getting a 1/8th chainring also, but I was just wondering if for the time being this would be an acceptable solution.
