Commuting - It's starting to get lighter earlier in the morning

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just thought I'd share that. Give it a couple of weeks more and I may be able to take my lights off!!

I've been switching my main lights off about half-hour in to my morning run this week (I keep the front LED unit on).

How long will it be until it's light of an evening?

Well, It's a bit lighter up here at night too. maybe another month or so and I might get back in the light.

At the moment it's light enough in the morning for me to turn off my front lights when on the entirely car free cycle path (though I keep a front LED on) until I get to the road.

In a few weeks it should be light enough for me to do my MTB trail after my work, and do some more cycling!
I`m really looking forward to it, because i only cycle in the weekends right now.

When I leave for work in the morning it is completely dark. But, this past week I have noticed a twinkle of light in the Eastern sky. It won't be long before I can leave the blinkies and lights at home.

Is it my imagination, or do our UK days start warm, for the morning ride, then get colder towards midday and evening?

I've noticed that too! I had a great ride in this morning, but on the way home wearing the same amount of layers, felt cold. It was an east wind and I notice the road gritters are out, but I think tiredness has something to do with it.

I'm waiting for our days to shorten so I can at least watch the sun rise on 5am rides.

I left about 20 minutes late the other morning. It was light very soon afterwards.

The earth's shifting...

Ever wonder what would happen if the earth didn't shift as it revolved around the sun? (We'd have frozen food on one side and cooked food on the other...)

(We are actually closer to the sun in Winter, in the Northern Hemisphere. It's the angle of the tilt that makes the difference...)

Judging by some of the posts from the Northern Hemisphere recently, and by the recent weather conditions out here, I would argue that this already happens.

I confess I'm still generally catching the train home, but from the bits either side of the station I'd agree with you. I've also found that the wind is stronger of an evening, and it seems to rain more.
