Hello... I'm considering putting a bid on this rare but potentially nice Superbe RD for a backup to my Cyclone GT or for a future project. I can't help but think that I might be better off with a new Shimano 105 or Ultegra to handle my (touring triple) 6 speed friction shifting needs. Cheap compared to some of the frenzy type vintage bidding on Ebay. The price you pay for trying to be period correct. Anyone have any first hand experience with this derailleur?

In my experience, you'll not get much smoother for friction 6 than those Suntours...
I think the LePreel, the Arx, the Cyclone GT, and the Superbe are all just fine...

Read the not-so-stellar review on Disraeli Gears:

Superbe Tech, to be precise. Not that rare, and known for prematurely wearing out their parallelogram pivots.

Thanks for the heads up with the review from DISRAELI GEARS. Not too supportive!
Maybe I'll look for another Cyclone MkII.

I've got a Cyclone RD. PM me if interested.
Actually, I've got four of them. :)

Seriously, those Cyclone GT's are fantastic deraillers. Especially since you can remove the chain without breaking it. I want one, and it'll be a great (actually, perfect) derailler for your needs.

I like the Suntour Vx's. Not as spendy as some of the cyclone stuff is getting. But fully featured, smooth shifting, reliable. Plus, since they aren't anodized, it is easy to get rid of minor rash.

I was wondering, the other day, if they made such an animal. Not listed at DISRAELI GEARS.
Anyone using this derailleur?
