It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Ought to be worth about ten bucks at a garage sale. bk

i really can't figure those hubs out! it looks like they would make the bike bounce up and down since they are off center. the spacing of the hubs versus the fenders makes it look like so. imagine the wheels turning.

is it a clown bike? if so, how much do clowns pay for bumpity bikes? i'm being serious here, i can't figure it out. also notice the lack of brakes, even though there are brake levers.

Only if there was a $20 bill taped to the seat.

Okay. Enough of the rapier like wit. Can someone explain what the deal is with those funky hubs??

gremlin76 in post #6 explained it. It is a clown bike for riding boing-boing, bumpity bump.

Those are moped wheels, with some kind of re-arrangement of the hubs, inside the space where the hub-brakes should be.

It looks like it will go bump-bump-bump.

Despite the comments, I would say well upwards of their $10 estimate, sold to the right person. Finding that right person is the trick.

I'd so pay 50$ for that just because it's weird and something to talk to people about when they ask lol

from what i can tell, those would be an early hub/disk brake design for a bike. i could be wrong, but if you follow the steel bar by the neck, youll notice it disapears into it. quite elegent in my opinion. id give $30 and restore it, turn arround and sell it to a collector for about $100.

The eccentric wheels are the key to the bucking bicycle (aka circus bicycle, clown bicycle).

Btw, what's the location of the bicycle?

I paid 250 for a 1992 Miyata 916 with a full 600/ultegra group in excellent condition. I love the bike, but I have no idea what the actual value of it is. I don't know this site well, but it seems like craigslist value and ebay value are generally considered inflated on these threads.

The one suck about the Miyata is that the guy removed all of the decals. I suspect he did it as a way to try and not have it stolen, which I appreciate since I use it as my main city bike for that reason. At the same time, I have been unable to find replacement decals.

If you really have to have them replacement Miyata decals *may* be available from a guy who occasionally posts on this forum: JRrestore, and/or from Greg Softley who is in Australia but has an eBay-based business. Search eBay for Cyclomondo to find Greg, search this forum's user list for JR.

Thanks for the heads up unworthy! I don't really know the etiquette here, would it be appropriate to message either of them and ask?

Part of me thinks who cares...they're just decals. It's not like it's a super collectible bike (please make my day, tell me I'm wrong and that it is collectible!), so does it really matter? But another part would love to see it as it originally was. Everything on it is stock and in super condition. The paint looks terrific, except for missing the decals.

The fully enclosed chain guard is rare in the United States. That is one part worth saving, even if you discard the bike. I bet some odd commuter would pay $25 just for the chain guard.

I love how some people apply the terms "Rare" and "Unique" to any object that crosses their path.
