He wants $350 and won't go any lower. It's in beautiful shape and if it had drop bars I would love it even more.
Bottom line, My girlfriend loves green and she got used to her 531c bike.

Worth $350?

Wow...it does look like it's in beautiful condition...but, in my limited experience, I think $350 is too high for a Super Course...I have a '74 Super Course Mk2 finshed in emerald green and white which is in really good shape, and I paid less than half that (and it was an impulse buy and I thought I paid too much for it at the time). Also, FWIW I don't think your example has the orginal saddle, I believe the Super Course came with a Brooks B17 Narrow.

Don't get me wrong, I love mine, and of course, it depends on the market you're in, but I'd say $250 max for a pristine example....but I'm far from an expert.

If he can throw in the original drops and brake levers in the same condition as that bike is, I'd say it is worth it. Overvalued, but worth it if a spotless Super Course is what you seek.

Thanks guys, I'm going to pass on this one.
My girlfriend's first road bike was a raleigh reliant so the combination of older raleigh and reynolds in her favorite color was tempting, but it just seems too high.

On a related note (not to rub it in to PDXaero...)

I just stumbled upon what looks to be a 70's Super Course for a cool $100. I think it's at least a Super Course from the blurry photos showing chrome seat- and chainstays, but I'm no Raleigh expert.

Is there any chance of this being a lower model, or should I try to go ahead and pick it up if I can?

Looks a lot like the '76 Gran Sport on SB's page. One up from the Supercourse. I'd get it if I were you. And if it doesn't fit, well I might know a guy you can ship it to...

You're right, that does look pretty dead on with that Gran Sport!

I emailed within half an hour of the ad being posted, so we'll see if I get lucky...

An update - the seller sent me a larger photo and it is indeed a Gran Sport. I will be looking at it tomorrow evening, and provided there are no major issues that discourage me from purchasing, look for a thread on this bike/my projects in C&V proper tomorrow night!
