Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone use the i phone cycling apps or the gps app for biking? Seems to me that it would work... not sure if there's a handle bar mount though...

I developed TrackMyTour.com (http://trackmytour.com/) with bike touring in mind. It lets you add waypoints to a map from the road so that family and friends can follow your progress.

So do you keep the phone loose in a jersey, or do you have a handle bar mount?

The iPhone doesn't have a long enough battery life to use as a primary navigation tool -- especially if you have the GPS continually active. I can't see much benefit to a handlebar mount....

With TrackMyTour it's not necessary. The app isn't a real-time tracker (hence it uses little battery power), so it can stay loose in your handlebar bag or wherever.

Here's an iphone handlebar mount:

I've considered it, but don't have much space to spare on my handlebars...
