not sure if they are mass start legal... cane creek makes some "speed bars" that mount near the stem and are pretty short and they claim theirs is...

The description of the bars implies that this is for TTs and "Sportive" riders. Drop bar with an aero bar attachment.

In USAC you can't have a bar ending pointing up, and these point up, I think. Not sure if the flat part counts as the "top" and which way it's pointing.

I think in USAC you can still use Rakes and Speed Bars (?). They end pointing down just like normal drop bars. I have pretty much no use for them, but the diesels would like them.

Yeah that's brilliant..give up every other advantage of a standard bar for the chance that you might get off the front for solo win...makes perfect sense...these bars were more or less designed for a stage like the long TT at the Giro....you have a lot of these in you local cat 4 races? I guess you are going to run out and spend close to a grand on set of bars that weigh 400+grams so you can gain 3% aero advantage...good luck there sparky.

these were made for draft legal tri's. iirc, they can have aero bars so long as the don't extend beyond the shifter. i doubt you will see garmin or any other team use these bars again. they don't really have an advantage over drop bars with clipons - seems like a publicity thing.

They may be mass start TT legal (I've seen this before for a hill climb. It was weird.), like with a draft-legal tri. Otherwise, no.
