United Kingdom - London bike shops

Ill be visiting London for a day sometime in the coming weeks, taking my bike, and Im planning on visiting Brick Lane Bikes and Condor Cycles, has anyone had experience with these places? Any good? Also can anyone recommend me some other decent bike shops around London, preferably within the circle line. Thanks in advance.

Condor is an awesome shop. Well worth the visit, though prices are fairly standard i.e. not cheap. Avoid Evans. Cycle Surgery are not terrible but a bit generic. There are some great shops on the Upper Richmond Road but that's not really in your target area.

Never been to the Brick Lane shop but I'd guess it would cater more for Fixies than pure performance roadies, but it will be a cool shop, for sure.

Where abouts in the North West are you from? I live in London but was born and grew up in St. Helens.

kingston and richmond have/had a few good shops from memory as well, although might be a bit far out

kingston and richmond if your not familar with them are both well beyond the circle line, richmonds at the end of the disrict line, kingstons not conected to the underground network, but your all zone travel card will get you there if you take the train or bus

Evans is too hit-and-miss to be worthy of a recommendation. Shops on the Upper Richmond Road include Prologue in Sheen and then a couple of blocks towards Putney there's another whose name I've forgotten. Both of them stock very good stuff though. I had a look at a set of Lightweights in the Prologue shop - not very often you can do that!

I am going to be in London for a week and need to pick up a bunch of stuff, and possibly also get a bike fit done. I may pick up a frameset as well, if I can get one on sale.

Any suggestions on good shops to check out? Tube-accessible a plus.

Condors is well worth a visit. It's near-ish to Chancery Lane tube station, well within a five-minute walk.

not on the circle line but a couple of gems in south east london:

edwardes cycles in camberwell have an awesome range of stuff and are really helpful
brixton cycles are great- again really knowledgeable and friendly
evans are a bit hit and miss on the whole but i've always received good service in their more road-orientated shop on the cut (right next to waterloo)

might be stating the obvious but i'll do ti anyway: you can't take bikes on deep level tube trains. district and circle/hammersmith and city etc all fine but jubilee/piccadilly/northern/bakerloo/central are a no-no.
tfl website probably has full details buried somewhere.

anyway, you'll probably get swine flu on the tube(!)

was in putney cycles when i was in london in may, have a branch on upper richmond road, walking distance to putney mainline station, and east putney tube. other branch on putney bridge road, about a 20 minute walk from putney bridge tube, found the staff very helpfull. east putney and putney bridge are both surface level stations on the district line so bikes can usally be brought on during off peak hours

^ Technically my LBS as I live round the corner from them. They're pretty good.

They're both awesome.. Brick lane bikes have a good stock of used stuff and specialise in track/fg/ss bikes. Condor is a pretty average, shop. Found their staff really unhelpful though. Evans Cycles is really overpriced, but good thing is they do a thing called 'price match' so find anything cheap in another bike store (use google shopping for this!) they'll match the price, if yer' getting anything.
