Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - So there's this frame...

I mean, I've got all the components from my dead bike except the frame, and I see this frame. I've already got a really nice rear wheel built with the Eno eccentric hub. I know most of you here are ferrophiles, but a carbon frame and fork for that little? Can I say no? The manufacturer specializes in custom composites and builds stuff for Wound Up Cycles, so I get the feeling that the build quality is decent. Thoughts?

Interesting frame - though for the money I'd try to get a Kogswell or a Surly, still love that steel.

odd seatpin diameter - unless you have one that size already. Carbon - not a fan personally, but it's your bike. I prefer steel overall as far as comfort and durability.

i dont really like the shape of the frame, i guess im just more of a fan of the oldschool basic thin tubing frames, however im sure its a pretty good frame, quality and durabilitywise

nice looking frame... but I am a little confused.... why didnt you buy a track frame? are you building up a single speed or a fixed gear?

I got a road frame because I just had that wheel built up with the White Industries eccentric hub and I'd rather just get another road frame to use it with. I got exactly a week's worth of riding in between when my parents brought my bikes up and when my old frame broke in half. If I get a new road frame, I can just build it up with all the leftover parts that I stripped off the old one. If I get a track frame, I'd be looking for a new rear wheel, too, and I'm not really in a position financially or motivationally to be making that many new investments all at once right now.

And besides - another year or so I'll have that custom 650c fixie frame. :)

Fugazi Dave - I forgot to suggest Working Bikes - http://www.workingbikes.org. Used bikes for dirt cheap - some great finds there. I've picked up three bikes and one frame. Got a Peugeot, Motobecane, Fuji and a Bridgestone.

Need to get down there for a cruiser one of these days. At one point they had some sovos built wheels - new too. I was surprised to find some new
(probably NOS) front and rear fixed/ss wheels...

I know, I know, it's too late. But if you ever have 30-60 bucks to spare at a future date...

Isn't advanced composites the off-brand name for Kestrel? I seem to remember reading that Advanced Composites makes the Kestrel frames and forks and sells a few under their brand for less than Kestrel prices. Anybody know about this or have I been sniffing too many markers again>

Martec of Taiwan supplies kestrel, supergo's scattante (carbon frame only) and several others. Not sure about advanced composites though.

I pretty sure Advanced does make the Wound Up forks, along with a couple other brands.

I was looking at that one too. Good price and it will make an excellent commuter, esp. with those rack and fender eyelets. Hopefully good tire clearance too.
