So does anyone actually pay attention to the wear indicator on rims, in cleaning my wheels today I noticed they are pretty much gone on the drive side rear wheel.

I looked at mine today, not much wear on my Mavic CXP22 after 2000 miles. I'm not very heavy on the brakes, either because of no hills in Chicago, or I'm just a little slow.

I did find one loose spoke and the pads show some wear.

Always good to check.

these have got between 15,000-20,000 miles on them and every type condition from deep mud to smooth tarmac. I can feel an every so slight indenetation where the brake pads have worn it.

I'd start thinking about a new rim.

Rim sidewall blowouts are rare, but can be nasty.
