I need a route from the Northeast Bronx to Manhattan's east side. I've done a search and most of the routes I've found from the Bronx come from Riverdale and cross the Broadway Bridge. That route is out of the way for me since that would mean basically riding ACROSS the Bronx to go down into the city. I used the Ride the City website but the directions were all over the place. Turn here, then turn there, then turn here... I got lost and gave up. Does anyone have a DIRECT route, preferably NOT underneath Westchester Ave (I hate riding under the subway and Westchester Ave is FULL of buses and double parked cars) with not too many turns from the Northeast Bronx into the city? Thank you!!!

I'm orig. from Castle Hill. Ride down either Castle Hill or White Plains Rd. to the Bruckner Expressway and stay on the access road over the drawbridge towards Hunts Point. Cross either the Willis Ave or 3rd Ave bridges. Cross over and either go down Lex or connect to the path along the East River Drive. Check out Transportation Alternatives site for bridge crossings. bktourer1 gave you the best route, else you can bike up through fordam rd and over the 207st bridge which will put you up in manhattan (207th st, east side), then head due south.
