Anybody ever do it?
What did you use and how were the results?
Thanks,
Jeff...The Carpenter
I haven't done it.
However I do know that some old rollers (pre Kreitler) had
mahogany roller drums. Not sure what they used for bearings.
What I would do is build the frame and buy lathe turned rollers
(they come with bearings), go for Aluminium its a much smoother
ride than PVC.
I believe that rollers are available from Preformance, Kreitler and Tacx
as replacements for existing units.
Good luck and post pics!

My brother did, about 22 years ago. I have them now. Milled (?) the actual rolls himself out of Al (he's a toolmaker by trade). Not sure what he used for bearings, axles, drive belts, etc. Framework is just 2x4s (heavy!). I've got some leveling feet I've been meaning to put on 'em, but I commute in the winter, so I have almost no occasion to use the rollers anyway.
