Tandem Cycling - Tandem riding little and large

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm looking to get a second hand tandem to use for me and my son commuting to work via school. My son is 10 and 4 ft 9in, I'm 6ft 7in. What should I ask for? Are some makes better than others for larger riders? Any advice on a comfortable ride for both of us would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I'm 6',1" and my eight year old is 4',6" and we ride a Trek T900 I picked up used on CraigsList. I did make a several upgrades however, we use it for bike paths and singletrack. He loves the singletrack. It fits us both well and was reasonably priced. It seems very solid, I have no complaints. I don't know where your located but I saw a used T900 on MA CraigsList for $700.00. Good Luck.

Geez. Forget about the 4'9" son, where can you find a stock bike to fit just you?

Co-Motion Periscope comes to mind. Very adaptable size-wise, but at 6'7" it will still be a bit of a compromise fit for you,
Thanks for the suggestions,
Sounds like I might be the difficult one to fit on a tandem not my son!
The Co motion periscope looks very adjustable. Maybe a longer seat post is all that's needed on that frame. 37inch legs can be a pain sometimes..
Any more ideas welcome

If you consider the Periscope, do not cut steering tube and use an adjustable pilot stem (available from Co-Mo). Have actually fit a couple, he at 6'3" and she at 5'3" who wanted to be able to swap pilot/stoker positions + also be able for either parent to ride with one of the kids.
