The new motor that is supposed to be free wheel. I was about to buy their rear motor but after hearing the news I've decided to wait and see what the new model looks like.

All they list is the standard 500W motor. Which is rinky-dink.

That depends on what you want the motor to do for you. If you want a motorcycle, a bigger wattage motor will appeal, if you want to get some exercise, a 500 watt is a great choice.

The 500W motor they show appears to be of the large, heavy, and draggy variety with relatively low efficiency. It's nothing new, and depending on its' gearing system, will either be useful on the hills but not geared high enough for the flats, or geared low enough for the flats but a dead weight on the hills.

I look forward to more info on this hub motor - small diameter, big claims, they've got my attention!
Lots to consider beyond the ratings usually given by manufacturers. 500W does not always = 500W. There are more important things to consider like the pole count, magnet size, construction (materials, tolerances, design) + more. No doubt the newest hub motors coming from manufacturers like Nine Continents pretty much blow away older stuff such as Crystalite, Wilderness Energy, Golden Motor, etc.

We are a dealer for e-BikeKit.com's kits, which we feel are easily the best of the current generation of direct drive, brushless hub motors, LiFePO4 batteries & intelligent speed controllers. We have gone one step further and developed a small line of our own products (dropout spacers, heavy duty torque arms, ESC brackets, etc.) which we feel enhance the adaptability of these kits.
