Road Cycling - I'm in the rollers club now!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just picked up my Kreitler Challenger rollers from my LBS last night. It was a little scary riding them at first, but it didn't take long for me to get the hang of it - I was soon able to ride about 5 miles. I rode them with a chair on my left side (to help me get on and off the rollers) and a tall freezer on my right side.
I've ridden a Cyclops fluid trainer before, but it became very monotonous after a short while. With the rollers, the amount of concentration needed to stay on them keeps me motivated and alert. Plus, I don't have to worry about the stress that trainers can put on a bike :)
For anyone considering the purchase of a trainer, I would highly recommend looking into rollers as an alternative.

After you get good at rollers, they become almost as monotonous as a trainer. (smiley face)
They have a lot of other benefits though, They are especially great at teaching you to ride smooth and straight.
yes they do get boring, but then you can work up to
riding rollers no handed, drinking, removing jersey etc.
I can ride no hands for about 2 or 3 minutes then remember
what I'm doing and lurch for the bars. :D
I also have fluid2 that I never use.
